I blog about a few things and fantasy football is one. You can search for my other FF posts to see how I’ve been doing in my inaugural year of playing the game that my new hubby has turned me on to.
I could say a lot about but, but for this week, suffice it to say that I’m in fourth place. Yep, the lady who only casually followed football for her whole life actually has a shot at getting to the play offs after just a few months of fantasy.
There are 12 teams in my league. Most are the hubby’s friends. One is my cousin. I had no clue what I was getting into with having to trade players, keep up with injuries and swap out running backs and wide receivers depending upon the opposing team. But somehow I’ve figured it all out. It also helps that I picked Tom Brady to be my quarterback. (And Hines Ward, Joe Addai and Marques Colston aint bad either.)
I’ve now got my anti-Internet dad involved because he’s intrigued by the thought of picking your own football team. And my sister just might come on board next year.. We’ll see. It seems that, for the casual fan, the concept of football becomes a bit more interesting when you can put some personal stakes in it. In exchange for playing though, you gain appreciation for your various teams. For example, I respect Denver’s game right now and find it interesting to watch little BB every week coach his team and do his thing.
I’m in it to win it. But now that basketball season started, there is NO WAY I’m getting involved in fantasy bball. That would just be too much… Waay too much.
Any post about fantasy football is TrueMan approved. I’m in 4 leagues myself. You’re right about staying away from fantasy basketball. I’ve tried it and it’s too hard to keep up with. There are too many games to keep track of.
